Building a Better Mental Space
The Tree of Longing - An imaginary shelter to go during challenging times, a quiet place to create, feel protected, and plant seeds of good.

“God is present in the midst of a situation.”
The Tree of Longing
The Tree of Longing lives in my imagination. It’s one of my mindscapes, as a place to go to create positive and loving energy and atmosphere all around me. It’s eternal, and I feel its ancient heartbeat synchronize with mine. It’s majestic, with soft rustle leaves that soothe me and whisper secrets. As I settle into stillness, I sense the tree’s gentle strength caressing me. It’s as if the tree gives me a warm hug, holding space for my deepest desires and fears. Its weathered bark tells my story of dreams, tears, and laughter, a testament to the human experience.
The tree feels my emotions, joys, and sorrows as I sit underneath it. It’s like having a gentle confidant who listens without judgment. The tree’s roots dig deep into the earth, grounding me, while its branches stretch toward the sky, reminding me of the infinite possibilities that await.
In this peaceful space, I can be myself without pretenses. The Tree of Longing reflects my truth with kindness and compassion. As I listen to its whispers, I understand the language of my heart. It shares wisdom with me about the interconnectedness of all things, resilience, and patience. It reminds me that even the smallest seeds can grow into mighty trees, given time, care, and love.
As I leave my mind space, I feel grateful for this gentle giant. The Tree of Longing has been a loyal companion, offering me guidance and comfort. I know I’ll return, for this tree has become a part of me, its wisdom woven into my being.
Mindscape
It is easy to get caught up in the chaos and negativity surrounding us. We long for a better future where compassion and understanding reign, but we do not take responsibility for what we have created as a whole. Yes, we are not separated from the chaos; we are intertwined. Chaos within, chaos outside. A true manifestation of our inner world. When we verbalize our discontent and frustration with the state of the world, we must ask ourselves: are we contributing to the very problems we seek to solve?
When we focus on what’s wrong with the outside world, we become part of the matrix, perpetuating the energies we claim to oppose. We forget that the power to create the future we desire lies not in changing others but in transforming ourselves through our thoughts and our mindset.
“We don’t see things the way they are. We see them as we are.” ~Anaïs Nin
The truth is that the reality we experience is a reflection of our inner world. Our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs shape the lens through which we view the world. So, to create a brighter, more loving future, we must cultivate that reality within ourselves. This means letting go of negative thoughts and emotions that hold us back. It means embracing compassion, empathy, and understanding - not just for others but for ourselves. It means living as if the future we long for has already arrived and embodied the qualities we wish to see in the world.
So, what reality do you want to create? Do you want to live in a world where love and kindness prevail? Where compassion and empathy guide our actions? Where diversity is celebrated, and equality is a fundamental right?
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” ~Mahatma Ghandi
I’m inviting you to create a mindscape, a place where you can be yourself. There is no judgment here. You can imagine your favorite place, dream place, whatever feels good to your heart, it could be under a tree, cottage, house, by a lake, or beach—anywhere you feel connected and embraced. Remember, God is present in the midst of a situation. It’s time to examine your thoughts and beliefs and align them with the reality we desire. Stop thinking, imagining stories or negative ideas that do not work. Employ your time creating a masterpiece that lives in your mind. Start by saying to yourself STOP or CANCEL to negative self-talk or vision. It’s time to live as the future you long for is already here and to embody the qualities that will bring it into being. Creating your imaginary mindspace, visualize how you want your life to be, the world to be, and the challenges (which are blessings) resolved. Create, create, and create! Let us create and manifest a reality that reflects the beauty, diversity, and wonder of the human experience.
The future we long for does not magically appear someday. It’s a collective creation, moment by moment, thought by thought, action by action. Let’s become the architects of our own reality and create a world worthy of our highest aspirations.
Positive Psychology
Various institutions have conducted research on positive thinking, like the University of Pennsylvania’s Positive Psychology program and the Mayo Clinic, that reveal a profound truth:
When we cultivate a positive mindset, it has a profound impact on our reality. Studies have shown that this intentional focus on positive can:
Rewire the brain’s neural pathways, strengthening the connections between areas associated with happiness, resilience, and well-being.
Influence our genetics can affect gene expression, influencing how our genes respond to environmental stimuli.
Shaping our environment can inspire us to make choices that create a more supportive and nurturing environment, from the relationships we cultivate to the communities we engage with.
Attract positive experiences by emitting positive energy frequency; we can attract experiences, people, and opportunities that resonate with our desired reality.
Fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment can help us connect with our passions, values, and long-term goals, giving us direction and fulfillment.

This made me want to curl up under my own imaginary tree and let the inner ocean breathe again.
The Tree of Longing feels like a tide we forgot we belong to: soft, strong, and pulling us home.
