When The Heart Opens

A poem exploring the heart's deepest truth, illuminating the transformative power of vulnerability, and profound connection.

How does the heart open? Sri Ramana Maharshi said, “God dwells in you, as you, and you don't have to do anything to be God-realized or self-realized. It is already your true and natural state. Drop all seeking, turn your attention inward, and sacrifice your mind to the one self radiating in the heart of your very being. For this to be your presently lived experience, self-inquiry is the direct and immediate way.”

This poem emerged in early August, following my mother’s passing. In my vulnerable state, I delved into profound moments of heart-opening surrender, revealing the interconnectedness of all existence and transcending boundaries and embracing unity, love, and compassion.

When The Heart Opens

When the heart unfolds its petals widen,
And vulnerability becomes our guide
We forget ourselves, our fears, our pain,
And the world rushes in, like Summer rain.

The vail between worlds lifts, and we see,
The invisible threads of destiny,
The rainbow of meaning, rich and bold,
That weaves together young and old.

In this expansive space, all is made new,
The past, present and future merge anew,
The world we know and the world unseen,
Become one, intertwined, serene.

Every moment matters, every breath, 
Every heartbeat echoes with depth,
The stories of the universe celebrate,
And our soul's purpose is revealed freely.

In this openness, love knows, and overflows,
Compassion awakens, and wisdom grows,
The boundaries of time and space dissolve,
And eternity's essence starts to evolve.

When the heart opens, we behold,
The sacred unity of all that's been told,
The interconnectedness of every thread,
The oneness that sustains every life ahead.
