Everything Happens for Our Liberation
We always have the power to choose our suffering or to see it as an opportunity to become a radiant soul of love.

Hi There!
Throughout the week, I collect fragments of intuitive thoughts, contemplations, and conversations from my journal. These notes become seeds of ideas that flourish into a post. This week, I’m continue to share with you some of those musings.
Reflections #26
We must endure hardships and life lessons to understand who we truly are. These lessons often involve pain, sometimes leaving us feeling defeated, and can be challenging to accept. We become like caged animals in society, preoccupied with thoughts of those who have wronged us. We seek justice, but the idea of justice does little to alleviate our pain. We feel fragmented by the broken peace we long for— a solace, a home to return to, and a place for comfort.
I have a friend who is in remission from cancer treatment. Her treatment has required chemo and radiation therapy, along with stem cell transplants and other procedures. She is a strong woman open to exploring something new about her treatment each day. She often wonders what the other side of therapy holds. Wonder is the capacity to gently behold life’s mystery, complexity, and beauty with awe, curiosity, and reverence.
There’s no path to liberation that doesn’t pass through the shadow. ~Jay Michaelson
She is not looking for a happy place, but for instant joy in the midst of sorrow, where she also remembers and honors her cancer. When we enter sorrow, we don’t shut the door on the pain that triggered our suffering. Instead, we learn to embrace it differently, allowing it to transform our perspective.
Although the triggering event is individual, and the suffering is experienced the same way, we know that suffering is universal. I view suffering as an experience that, in some way, seems irrational, and I desperately wish it would make sense. I also view suffering like a stagnant place, where we fear no escape. Sorrow, on the other hand, flows like a river and transforms the experience. It moves us to an ocean where we know we are not our stories of suffering. Moving from suffering to sorrow can be overwhelming. It’s a slow process with a meditation practice which grants clarity. Be gentle with yourself and know that you are a child of God. Infinite love resides within you.
Moments of liberation
We will experience moments of liberation once we let ourselves break open and allow the new expression of ourselves to come blazing through. There is liberation, deeper than our sadness, anger, and anguish. Sit with it. Feel it. We can choose to stagnate or flow like the river. We always have the power to choose to see every event as an opportunity to become a radiant soul of love.
Thank you for reading.

Thanks for these comforting thoughts, Yoli. It brings to mind a quote by Naval Ravikant I saw recently -- "The source of wisdom is pain".
